News & Updates
With traditional Hindu roots, Holi has become the celebration of the beginning of Spring. In 17th century literature, it was identified as a festival that celebrated agriculture, commemorated good spring harvests, and the fertile land. Today in the USA among us all it is a time to “ say farewell to winter, to reset and renew ruptured relationships, end conflicts, and rid ourselves of accumulated emotional impurities from the past.” We thank Melissa Paolicelli , the Events Corrordinator at the Center for bringing a rich mix of cultural events to enrich the lives of our members and the community at large. The program of dancing, food and mehendi/henna was a huge success and was taped by BATV.
We are SO, SO lucky and blessed to have Jeanne Teehan as part of the team at the Billerica Council on Aging. She works for the elders in the community and with the partners in our network to provide all the essential information, guidance and services to our seniors and families. She truly is a wisdom specialist! Happy National Social Work Month!
